How frequently we TB test your animals depends on the level of risk — to your herd, or to the area it's located in — and the need for testing before moving animals.
How TB testing works
We have an annual TB testing programme in place, managed by our TB testing contractors.
Sending TB infected animals to slaughter
Animals that test positive for TB are slaughtered so we can do a post-mortem inspection on them. This confirms the diagnosis of TB in these animals.
After a TB infection is confirmed
When we confirm a TB infection, we take steps to ensure the disease can’t spread any further, and work with you to get the infection cleared as soon as possible.
