An import facility is required to be registered in the NAIT system as a NAIT location and will be issued a NAIT number. The PICA at the import facility must tag and register all animals received to the facility, ensuring that they include import details for the animals they are registering. This includes:
- Import date
- Country of origin
A PICA sending animals from an import facility must record a sending movement in the NAIT online system.
Quarantine and exporting facilities are required to be registered in the NAIT system as a NAIT location and will be issued a NAIT number. Movements to a quarantine block or export facility are to be recorded as normal. Click here to find out how to record a movement in the NAIT system.
For live export a PICA is exempt from making an animal exit declaration (required usually on death, loss or export) at the farm or transitional facility if a number of conditions are met and included in a declaration.
The declaration must be made:
- at the port of export,
- to the NAIT organisation, and
- before the animal leaves NZ.
The declaration must contain:
- the NAIT number at the port of export;
- the fact the animal is exported live;
- the RFID number of the NAIT device fitted to the animal;
- the country to which the animal is being exported; and
- the date on which the animal is exported.
The PICA at the final point where the animal is in New Zealand is required to update the animal to have a status of exported. This is done in the NAIT system as a normal animal update. Click here to find out how to update your animals’ details.
