NAIT users encouraged to have their say on MPI consultation
OSPRI encourages all NAIT users to have their say on the NAIT Review consultation launched today by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).
The consultation document contains proposals that address recommendations raised in the NAIT review, published earlier this year.
Acting OSPRI Chief Executive, Dr Pim Borren says, “The release of the consultation is an important step as we look to future proof the NAIT system. OSPRI has been working closely to support MPI to develop the regulations and encourage all programme users, from farmers to information providers to have their say.
“Alongside the consultation, OSPRI is making steady progress to address key operational recommendations identified in the NAIT review,” says Dr Borren.
This work is ongoing and will be delivered in a phased approach alongside the development of the NAIT Act regulations. It is expected that where consultation on standards is required, this will be done in sequence after MPI’s consultation on the regulations.
Further information, including the consultation document and submission form, is available on MPI’s website: www.mpi.govt.nz/NAITconsultation.
OSPRI is a partnership between the primary industries and the government and manages two national programmes – NAIT and TBfree. NAIT provides the national animal identification and traceability system and the TBfree programme aims to eradicate bovine TB from New Zealand.
