Hawke's Bay TB response
OSPRI is managing a cluster of TB infections in an area of Hawke’s Bay near the Napier-Taupo Road. TB from wildlife has been detected in 9 herds during since last April; one herd has since been cleared. As a precaution, stock controls will be put in place and possum control brought forward. “The infections will be managed, and Hawke’s Bay returned to TB-free status,” CEO Steve Stuart says.
Traceability helps TB eradication
Manawatu farmer Robert Ervine has first-hand experience of managing a TB infection in his herd. He says the TB programme has been a ‘major investment’ and that all farmers still have a part to play in supporting disease management through animal traceability.
