Latest update
At 30 September 2025:
- we have 16 herds with a TB-infected status across the country.

About the herds
- 5 of these herds have completed their first clear whole herd TB test
- 10 herd breakdowns have been determined to be wildlife related
- 2 herd breakdowns have been determined to be movement related
- 2 were recrudescence (previously infected herds testing positive)
- 1 is under investigation
- 1 was not a new breakdown but a new herd formed from an existing infected herd.
Infected herds have:
- had at least 1 animal confirmed to have TB
- not yet had sufficient testing or inspection of slaughtered animals to rule out continued presence of TB within the herd.
Infected herds will be reclassified at 'Clear' TB status when they've had 2 successive whole-herd tests clear of TB, no less than 6 months apart.
